Director of Safeguarding

Job description

Marlborough College provides an exceptional contemporary education set in a beautiful environment steeped in history. It is a welcoming community where ambition and scholarship are highly valued, creativity is celebrated, diversity is embraced and where each pupil is encouraged and challenged to be the best that they can be.

Marlborough enjoys a well-established reputation as one of the UK’s leading co-educational full boarding schools where pupils discover and explore their individual interests far beyond the traditional curriculum. As part of the College’s commitment to the highest standards in safeguarding, the Master is now seeking to appoint an expert leader to take responsibility for safeguarding and child protection matters in the College.

Reporting to the Master, the Director of Safeguarding will join the College’s Management Team and will offer substantial safeguarding experience and in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, procedures and good practice regarding children.  S/he will possess excellent relationship-building skills, a personal ethos of service and the expertise to further develop a team of six Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads.  Direct experience of the independent sector is not a pre-requisite and applications are encouraged from senior leaders with public sector and charitable backgrounds.

Marlborough College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and the Members of Council expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful candidate must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post.
