New ISBA Professional Development Programme Autumn 2020

27 August 2020

ISBA has published details of its programme of webinars for members' professional development for the autumn 2020 term.

For each week of the programme, there will be two webinars or keynote events on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  ISBA members can book and pay for each weekly series as a block which also gives them access to recordings of the sessions in a restricted area of the reference library.

Fees are £55 for one week's set of webinars and reductions are available when members book more than one set of webinar sessions. Members may book additional attendees from the same school for £10 per person per week.

For the beginning of September ISBA's focus is on leadership with a keynote on 'Leadership in Difficult times' from Sir John Timpson followed by a panel discussion on 'A Strategy for the New Normal' with John Murphie and experienced bursars.

Where there are emerging issues during the term, ISBA will slot in additional webinars (usually on Friday mornings) with appropriate expert speakers. There is no charge for these emerging issues webinars. The TPS webinar from ISBA and AGBIS on 16 September (details below) is also part of the emerging issue series so there is no charge for this webinar.

ISBA's forthcoming webinars are as follows:

  • Tuesday 1 September at 11am - Leadership in Difficult Times with Sir John Timpson
  • Thursday 3 September at 11am - A Strategy for the New Normal with John Murphie and others.

  • Friday 11 September at 11am - A Perspective on Prejudice with Charlie Easmon.  In the light of renewed and increased sensitivity on this issue, this webinar will act as a thought provoking and reflective starting point for webinars on the more practical aspects of these issues which will follow for members later in this term.  Please book for this webinar here: https://members.theisba.org.uk/professional-development/2020-2021-professional-development-courses/course.aspx?id=698
  • Tuesday 15 September at 11am - Becoming a Bursar (Session 1).  Booking link will follow shortly.
  • Wednesday 16 September at 2pm - ISBA and AGBIS are jointly hosting this webinar on TPS.  The aim of the session will be to outline the strategic context any decision on pension provision for the teaching staff sits within, and the options available to the governing bodies of schools.  The event will be both a refresher on the issues to consider and an update on recent changes.  It will be hosted by Richard Harman, CEO of AGBIS, David Woodgate, CEO of ISBA who will outline the strategic pressures on schools. Actuaries Barnett Waddingham and lawyers Eversheds Sutherland will be presenting and taking questions as part of the panel.  Please register at: https://members.theisba.org.uk/professional-development/2020-2021-professional-development-courses/course.aspx?id=695

If your school is a member of AGBIS and ISBA, individuals can book to attend the webinar themselves using the link above, provided you have an ISBA username and password.  If not, please email your request to attend to office@theisba.org.uk
