The Opportunity

Site: Langley Senior School, Langley Park (NR14 6BJ)

Reporting to: Head of Senior School

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: Salary commensurate with skills and experience, paid in accordance with the Langley Leadership Team payscale

Contract type: Maternity Cover

The Role:

The Deputy Head Academic (DHA) is a key member of the Senior School SMT and wider whole-school leadership group. Sitting at the heart of our academic life, the successful candidate in this role will be entrusted with maintaining the strategic direction already in place—ensuring continuity, consistency, and high standards of teaching and learning and pupil outcomes across a mixed-ability cohort. At the same time, we warmly welcome fresh thinking and professional insight, and hope the appointed colleague will feel confident contributing their own ideas to enrich our evolving academic culture.

Skills & Experience:

• Hold a minimum qualification of an honour’s degree with QTS
• Inspirational teacher committed to ensuring excellent standards
• Passionate about the development of own practice and that of others
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Ability to employ a range of effective teaching and learning styles
• A research-informed understanding of the current best practice in teaching pedagogy
• Experience of leading and managing a department
• Demonstrably good communication skills (written and oral)
• Excellent role model for staff and pupils
• Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with pupils, staff and parents
• Ability to use assessment data to inform planning and set targets
