Job description

Loughborough Endowed Schools are situated on an impressive tree lined campus on the edge of Loughborough and consists of Loughborough Grammar School (boys 10-18), Loughborough High School (girls 11-18), Fairfield Preparatory School (girls and boys 3-11) and Our Lady’s Convent School (girls and boys 0-11, girls 11-18).  The schools enjoy a very high reputation for their academic, cultural and sporting achievements, and for the quality of their pastoral care. Each school offers an excellent learning environment, providing a broad and balanced education for around 2,300 pupils.  The four schools are governed by the same Charitable Foundation which manages the business aspects and support functions for all four schools.

We are looking to recruit a Secretary to the Board who will report into the Chief Operating Officer. This is a key new role for Loughborough Endowed Schools, which will form part of the Central Services senior management team.

The Secretary to the Board will be responsible for the provision of administrative support to the Governing Body, its committees and the Executive Committee.  This will include guidance on constitutional and procedural matters and timely, erudite advice on legislative, Department of Education and Independent Schools Inspectorate requirements as well as the effective management of information.

The post holder must possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, be a team player capable of interpreting, influencing and communicating effectively with a wide range of people.

A proven track record of either operating within senior management, or indeed supporting it, should be a given, with an evident ability to inform and influence in a collaborative, team based environment. Previous experience within a school environment is helpful but certainly not a requirement.

The post is advertised as potentially a full or part-time position to be agreed with the incumbent and offers a competitive salary together with an attractive benefits package.  A relocation package will also be available if required to the successful candidate.

Loughborough Endowed Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Applicants must be willing to undergo Child Protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service.  Loughborough Endowed Schools is a Company Limited by Guarantee No.4038033.  It is also a Registered Charity No.1081765.
